RAWALPINDI:

Two murder convicts were hanged in Adiala jail on Monday morning after their mercy appeal was rejected by the president.

On September 1, 2009, an anti-terrorism court convicted the two men — Tahir Hussain, a resident of Karachi, and Chanzeb, resident of Abbotabad, for killing a guard of a jewellery shop in the Sadiqabad area of Rawalpindi on July 1, 2003.

The slain convicts, who had killed the security guard during a robbery at Adnan Jewellers’ Shop, were arrested by the police on July 2, 2003.

Their appeal was also turned down by the Supreme Court on November 12, 2015. The jail authorities handed over the bodies to their legal heirs after medico-legal formalities.
