Unpaid Dues: HESCO severs 550 connections

HYDERABAD:  

The city’s main power utility, Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) has geared up its operation for recovery of outstanding power bill and disconnected supply of 550 defaulters. During the operation, 600 illegal loopings (kunday) were removed throughout the region while arrears of Rs1.2 million were also recovered. Hesco spokesperson informed that on directives of company’s CEO, Akhtar Ali Randhawa, special teams geared up efforts to ensure 100% recovery of outstanding dues and conducted raids in Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Qazi Ahmed, Sakrand, Daur, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Badin, Thatta, Matiari among others. Hesco owes Rs64.35 billion as arrears which include dues of Rs2.2 billion to federal entities, Rs30.3 billion to provincial entities and Rs31.8 billion against various categories of private consumers, informed the CEO. Hesco has categorically instructed to restore the power supply only if all outstanding dues were cleared by defaulters and officers should not accept any pressure or influence in this regard, he added.
