Illegal business: Crackdown against illegal gas filling points underway

BAHAWALPUR: Officials of the district government in Rahim Yar Khan sealed several LPG decanting shops and unlicensed petrol filling stations in the city over the weekend.

Rahim Yar Khan Assistant Commissioner Abbas Raza Nasir and Civil Defence District Officer Ali Raza visited several unlicensed petroleum filling points and gas decanting shops in Sardar Garh, Rukanpur, Ehsanpur, Pull Gari, Iqbalabad, Sui Gas Chowk and Ada Khanpur over the weakened and sealed them. They also seized the equipment at the shops. Cases have been registered against the owners, they said.

“We have had reports of several accidents at these illegal filling stations…many people have lost their lives,” the assistant commissioner said. The district administration has cracked down on these shops before, he said. “They always reopen at some other location.”

The assistant commissioner stressed the need to take concrete steps to put an end to the illegal business.
