Our Correspondent July 18, 2016

LAHORE: The wildlife and parks director general has directed in charge officers of wildlife parks, zoos and breeding centres across the province to submit flood emergency plans within four days so that animals can be moved to safer places, if need be. The officers have been directed to be prepared during the rainy season and ensure protection of the animals. They have been asked to contact the officers concerned at the Punjab Disaster Management Authority, if the need arises. They have been directed to adopt precautionary measures with regard to disease prevention. The officers have also been asked to update records of animals. They have been asked to make entries of birth or death of animals. In case an animal dies, the officers must inform the director general. They are not to bury or dispose of the body without inspection, according to a circular issued by the DG’s office.
