Curriculum: UHS issues new guidelines

LAHORE: The University Of Health Sciences (UHS), for the first time, has made Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support compulsory courses for MBBS students. From this year, every medical student must take the courses to obtain their degree. The courses can be forgone only if the student has completed training and gotten certification in the courses prior to her final examinations.

The UHS has made the change to train students to quickly respond to emergencies and save lives.

ILEM’s project director Dr Khurram Shahzad said that all courses were designed and delivered with a hands-on approach.

The students would be required to practice and demonstrate both their skills and the knowledge necessary to save lives, he said.
