Poisonous: Couple dies from ‘eating shawarma’

FAISALABAD: A husband and wife died on Tuesday apparently from consuming poisonous food. Civil Lines police say they are investigating the matter from various angles.  A police spokesperson said Ameer Riaz, 26, and Zahida Bibi, 21, were brought to the Faisalabad District Headquarters Hospital in a critical condition. Riaz’s family told the doctors there that they had eaten shawarma after which they had fallen violently sick.  Doctors treated them for food poisoning but they died. Police took the bodies for post-mortem examination. “We have to ascertain the cause of death…we are not ruling out murder,” the spokesperson said.
