Two suspected militants killed in IED explosion in Bajaur

BAJAUR AGENCY: Two suspected militants were killed as a result of an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the Salarzai area of Bajaur Agency late Sunday night.

Officials of the political administration confirmed to The Express Tribune the two militants were planting the device on a roadside at Dherakai, Salarzai when it went off causing the death of the militants.

One killed, three injured in Bajaur Agency blast

Security forces arrived at the scene following the blast where they cordoned off the area and commenced investigation into the incident.

Such blasts aimed at security forces and government officials have become a common occurrence in Bajaur Agency which shares a border with Afghanistan, Dir, Malakand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Mohmand Agency.

Last month, a schoolteacher was killed while a tribal peace militia leader was injured in separate IED blasts.

Five policemen injured in Quetta IED blast

The schoolteacher, Shehzada was on his way to the school when an IED planted at a roadside went off. As a result, he was killed on the spot. Later, the political administration launched a search operation in the area. However, no arrests were made till this report was filed.

In another incident, a tribal peace militia leader was injured in an IED blast in Badan Kot.
