Costly medicines

SHIKARPUR: In the last one year, it’s the third time that pharmaceutical companies have raised prices of medicines. Not only were the prices raised but finding medicines for epilepsy and TB has become a challenge. The current upsurge in prices is a declaration that heath facilities and medicines are obviously not meant for the underprivileged.

In these times, it’s very trying for a poor person to feed their family. A daily-wage labourer can’t even afford proper food and education for their children and can’t even imagine purchasing any other essentials. Government hospitals, too, are not working efficiently — and who suffers? It’s certainly not the elite. The government must look into the matter and fulfil its duty to provide basic health facilities to the disadvantaged sector of society.
