Teachers working in federal government schools and colleges have expressed serious concern over the deduction of conveyance allowances from their salaries during summer vacation months.

In a press release, teachers said that the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR) deducts conveyance allowance of the employees working under the Federal Department of Education during the summer vacation whereas the Accountant General Sindh has allowed conveyance allowance to be paid to the education employees in compliance with the order of the Sindh Services Tribunal.

Federal Government Colleges Teachers Association President Prof Manzar Zafar Kazmi said that the summer vacation was for the students and not for the teachers and the conveyance allowance could not be deducted.

The AGPR deducts Rs5,000 per month from salaries of the teachers in June and July which is a sheer violation of the fundamental rights of the teachers and discriminatory towards government employees working for the federation, he said.

Kazmi demanded that the conveyance allowance should not be deducted and the deducted amount should be restored. He demanded that the teachers should be paid the conveyance allowance for the month of June and July.

He said that the issue will also be taken up with the CADD secretary.
