For killing cops and rivals: Law enforcers arrest three political workers

KARACHI: The Rangers and police claimed to have arrested on Friday three Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers for killings policemen and workers of a rival party.

Rangers claimed to have arrested two of these suspects, allegedly belonging to the militant wing of the MQM. The suspects arrested included Adnan alias Dantor and Muhammad Nasir alias Herbaria. According to a Rangers spokesperson, they were arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off at Shah Faisal Colony.

The spokesperson said that Adnan confessed to have killed at the three people, including the targeted killings of two Sunni Tehreek (ST) workers and a rickshaw driver. He also confessed to have submitted Rs280,000 to a sector office of the party, which he collected as extortion during Ramazan, said the spokesperson.

Talking about Nasir, the spokesperson said that the suspect confessed to have killed four ST workers while he also admitted his involvement in extortion and sale and purchase of arms and ammunitions. The spokesperson further said that the suspects were handed over to the police for further investigations.

Another alleged worker of the MQM, identified as Amjad Alam, was arrested from Rashid Minhas Road by the Federal B Industrial Area police. Police officials said that the accused, during initial course of interrogation, revealed his involvement in nearly half a dozen cases of targeted killings, including the targeted killings of policemen.

A case was registered against him and further investigations are underway.
