Two deaths were reported in Karachi, including that of a 13-year-old girl in the city’s Orangi Town area. She died after the wall of her house collapsed due to rain. Elsewhere, in the city’s Sharifabad neighbourhood, a welder identified as Shafiq was electrocuted at his shop, according to the Edhi Emergency Helpline.

Two people – Faizan, 28, and Adnan, 26 – were electrocuted in North Karachi a day earlier, the helpline reported.
Meanwhile, the death toll in Tharparkar district rose to five. All of the deceased were killed by lightning strikes. Five other, including two children, were also injured by lightning in the district.
Rain exposes civic crisis
Although thunderstorms and strong winds were reported in the vicinity of the Islamkot and Chachro talukas of Thar, the desert received only up to six millimetres of rain by Wednesday morning. Dozens of livestock animals in many parts of Thar also reportedly perished after being struck by lightning.
