Downsizing: Court orders security for KESC against protesters

KESC had approached the SHC against four labour unions.

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) extended on Wednesday a stay order passed earlier till February 28, directing the police to provide adequate security to thwart protests by workers at the offices of the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC).

Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai also clubbed together another petition involving the same issue.

KESC had approached the SHC against four labour unions.

KESC’s counsel said that 294 sacked employees were causing serious industrial unrest by employing the services of five non-CBA labour unions.
