ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has suspended Superintendent Police (City) Rizwan Gondal here on Monday for allegedly making a mess and misbehaving with the management of a five-star hotel.

A citizen had informed the interior minister that Gondal had humiliated the management of the hotel on a trifling issue and he arrested the hotel manager and kept him under arrest illegally for a long period.

The initial inquiry of the allegations levelled against Gondal has proven correct. Khan ordered to initiate probe against Gondal and also ordered him to report the Establishment Division immediately.

Moreover, Khan said that the police official had damaged the credibility of Islamabad police.

Last month, Islamabad Police inspector general (IG) suspended an SHO on allegations of facilitating land grabbing.

IG Tariq Masood Yasin also ordered an inquiry against Kohsar SHO Malik Basheer, said a police spokesperson.

Basheer, however, denied the allegations and said there was a lobby working against him. He said that there was no formal complaint against him.

Tahir Khan, inspector (public relations), said an individual had lodged a complaint saying the SHO was involved in squatting his house in F-6 area. He did not divulge further details.
