Religious observance: Mosques make special arrangements for aitekaf

PESHAWAR: Mosques across the city have made special arrangements to accommodate people who will observe aitekaf starting Sunday.

Aitekaf is a religious ritual which is observed in the last 10 days of Ramazan.

The administrations of Mahabat Khan Mosque, Masjid Qasim Ali Khan, Sunehri Masjid and Darvesh Masjid have made arrangements to facilitate people for aitekaf.

A series of arrangements have been made to install UPS and generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the 10 days.

The administrations of various mosques have received a large number of applications from people from all walks of life to observe aitekaf.



Muhammad Ibad, a local, who will observe aitekaf at a mosque in Nothia, told The Express Tribune he was privileged to have been given permission by the mosque administration.

Sehri and iftari will be served free of cost to those who observe aitekaf at mosques.

Similarly, mosques in Hayatabad have also made arrangements for aitekaf. Faizur Rehman, administrator of a mosque in Phase VI, Hayatabad, told The Express Tribune at least 10 people will be given permission to observe aitekaf. He said iftari and sehri will be provided by nearby houses during the 10 days of their stay at the mosque.

Afghan nationals residing in the province observed aitekaf a day earlier as Ramazan for them commenced a day prior to the official announcement made by Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Pakistan.
