PESHAWAR: IGP Nasir Khan Durrani expressed his gratitude to the provincial government for approving extension of services of contract employees of Special Police Force and ex-servicemen.

In a letter sent to the government on Wednesday, Durrani said the matter was resolved due to the keen interest shown by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak who extended the services of the employees by three years.

He also said the step raised the morale of the police personnel. The IGP assured the government the decision will prove instrumental in improving law and order in the province.

The backdrop

Special Police Officers and ex-servicemen were to be relieved from the force by June 30 and a notification to this effect had also been issued.

However, the employees highlighted the issue on different forums, particularly through the media. They also submitted an application to the IGP and requested the extension of their services.
