Targeted: PTI youth wing member shot dead in Havelian

The 25-year-old activist was president of the Havelian chapter of PTI’s youth wing

ABBOTTABAD:  

A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf youth wing activist was gunned down in a village in Deval Manal union council in Havelian tehsil, Abbottabad on Tuesday night.

A police official told The Express Tribune the deceased has been identified as Sardar Shahbaz Safdar. The assailants have yet to be identified and Safdar’s family has not nominated anyone in the FIR.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Nara SHO Rasheed Khan confirmed that Safdar had been murdered in Sajikot village.

“He was on his way back home after taraweeh when the incident occurred,” he said. “A group of assailants opened fire on him and fled the site.”

According to Rasheed, he was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries before he could be provided medical assistance. The SHO added Safdar's family does not know who is behind the attack. However, an FIR has been registered against the incident.

The 25-year-old activist was president of the Havelian chapter of PTI’s youth wing.
