Section officer gunned down in Peshawar

Nawaz Safi, hailed from Mohmand Agency and was living in Yakatot area

PESHAWAR: Unidentified gunmen shot dead on Wednesday a section officer of Khyber-Pahtunkhwa (K-P) Establishment Department in the Sharifabad area of Peshawar.

The deceased, Nawaz Safi, hailed from Mohmand Agency and was living in the Yakatot area. He was killed in an apparent targeted-killing, DSP Yakatot Police Station said.

Another official of police told The Express Tribune that Nawaz had previously served as APA Waziristan and was killed by two assailants near Sharifabad darwaza.

“The attackers managed to escape after committing the crime and Nawaz was shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where he was pronounced dead,” said the official, adding police had reached the area and were checking the crime scene.
