Targeted operations: Six Afghan nationals arrested in District West

Four ball bombs, one awan bomb, two repeaters and ammunitions were recovered

KARACHI: Six Afghan nationals were among over a dozen suspects who apprehended during ongoing targeted raids and operations in different parts of the metropolis on Monday.

The foreign nationals, identified as Muhammad Shah, Dil Agha, Naib Shahi, Ghaus Din, Zabiullah and Ovais Mir, were held during raids in parts of District West.

The Afghan nationals living illegally in the city were arrested as part of the National Action Plan, said Gulshan-e-Maymar SHO Irfan Asif, adding that cases have been registered against them under the Foreigners Act.

Separately, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Criminal Investigation Agency claimed to have apprehended three suspected criminals after an encounter at Jamshed Road. The suspects arrested were identified as Rehman Khan, Lal Buksh and Asim. SIU chief SP Farooq Awan said that they were wanted in cases of street crimes and bank robberies.

In another raid, four suspects were arrested during a targeted operation conducted by the police in Mehmoodabad area. The police also claim to have seized a huge cache of arms and ammunitions from the suspects’ hideout. Four ball bombs, one awan bomb, two repeaters and ammunitions were recovered.

Meanwhile, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Sindh claim to have arrested an alleged drug peddler and seized hashish from his possession. According to ANF spokesperson, the suspect was arrested during a raid conducted in Saddar locality and seized nearly one kilogrammes of hashish while the search for his companion was underway.
