LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Sarwar said on Saturday the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was not strengthening democracy but protecting corruption.

He said those accused of corruption should be sent to jail. He said opposition parties were on the same page against corruption. He said the government would be in trouble soon if it continued to delay finalisation of terms of reference to probe the Panama Papers scandal. “Corruption is more dangerous for the country than cancer. There is need for starting a national movement against corruption. Incumbent rulers are protecting the corrupt people,” the former governor said. He said that not only the PTI but all Pakistanis were concerned about corruption in the country. “The PTI will not retreat even an inch from its stance on corruption and the Panamagate.” The PTI leader demanded that the government promote accountability in the country. He said the government should be held responsible if opposition parties took to the streets against corruption. Sarwar said that curbing corruption was necessary to steer the country out of crises.
