DI KHAN: The cool climate of Wana is attracting many displaced people who are heading towards the valley to escape the scorching heat of Tank and other adjacent areas.

“The weather is [pleasant] here,” said Hamid, who has moved to Wana with his family from Gomal in Tank. “We are getting to have fresh fruits.”

The high temperature in Tank and other areas in the southern districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, have forced the people to move to Wana.

However, the recent hailstorm has affected agriculture.

But heat is not the only reason why people are making temporary shifts to Wana.

In Tank, a ban has been imposed on the sale of pakoras and samosas during the day, till 2pm, while the government has announced punishment for those who violate the rules. Moreover, canteen of District Headquarters Hospital Tank was closed down to patients and attendants. According to the medical super intendant of the facility, the move was made to respect those who fast in Ramazan.  Eating in public is a matter of humiliation during the month.

Therefore, temporary shifts are taking place for the month.
