LAHORE:

The Prosecution Department has filed a petition in Lahore High Court (LHC) against grant of bail to a gang-rape suspect, Adnan Sanaullah.

Racecourse police had arrested Sanaullah, formerly an office-bearer of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Youth Wing, and Abdul Majid, Muhammad Umar, Ameer Ahmad, Haris, Bilawal, Imran Shahid and Qamar Zaman on charges of kidnap and rape.

A sessions court had granted bail to Sanaullah after the girl submitted an affidavit in his favour. The Prosecution Department submitted that the girl had filed the affidavit under pressure exerted on her family by the accused. In her initial statement, she had told a judicial magistrate that Sanaullah was the prime suspect in the case.
