It looks like filmmakers have been left with no artistic license as of late. After Bajirao Mastani faced criticism for portraying historical inaccuracies, Hrithik Roshan starrer Mohenjo Daro, based on the ancient Indus Valley civilisation, is now receiving backlash from twitteratis.

Jatt Sher | 8 years ago | Reply Mohenjodaro and Indus Valley Civilization in general have got absolutely nothing to do with India. About 80-90% of IVC is in Pakistan, the major sites, such as Harappa and Mohenjodaro are in Pakistan, hence the name Indus Valley Civilization. If you look at a map, then the Indus river is 95% or more in Pakistan. These Indians should claim Ganges Civilization, but too bad, it doesnt exist therefore they try to steal and claim others civilizations due to having none of their own. IVC predated Hinduism and had nothing to do with it either, as all modern scholars agree. India itself is a made up country that didnt exist before 1947, and British India was forcibly made by conquest. The irony of this movie is that even Hrithik Roshans family, like all mainstream Bollywood actors, is originally from Gujranwala, Pakistan Region. Indians should stop their self hating and inferiority complex.

Caitlin | 3 years ago Hello Actually about 40 of the civilization is in India. Although Mohenjo Daro and Harappa is in Pakistan many cities like Lothar are in India. Also the people were predominantly Dravidian and spoke a Dravidian language which is not found in Pakistan that much. The people migrated down south to southern India. I believe it is the people that make the place not the place that makes the people. Kindly reconsider your comment. Next time do more research before commenting such things. - An Anthropologist

Also both countries got freedom same time, post midnight. Pakistan celebrated its first 2 Independence Day on 15th August just like india later changed it to 14th in 1949. 2. It was indigenous local rulers ruling their nation before invaders came in and converted local people- your forefathers.

tonys | 8 years ago | Reply No one knows what the Harappan civilization was like. We have a language no one understands and a few statues. What we know: They wore amulets, bangles, cloaks, horns (royalty?) and were not opposed to complete nudity. We know more about their buildings than we know about them. So complaint is futile.

Shuaib | 8 years ago | Reply @Priya: @Rajashekar: Very massive concoctions. The Indus Valley civilisation stretched to from Eastern Afghanistan to Northern India, not all of India. The vast majority of India would not be included in the Indus Valley civilisation. As for it being Vedic is an absolute fabrication, the India sub continent was Buddhist prior to its conversion to Hinduism and Islam. If you go further back, it would probably be indigenous religions. Since the Indus script is still undeciphered, it is absolutely impossible to know what religion they followed.

That stretched from sindh to Indian Gujarat, Haryana. Who later migrated to Ganga planes when when water source dried up in Indus region. The one which where your ancestors too before you converted from ancient vedic religion to islam in 1800 AD when islam reached subcontinent.
