Theft: Rs30.3m electricity bills default

PESHAWAR: National Accountability Bureau Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa arrested Noorul Hassan, owner of Ahmad Steel Re-rolling Industry, for defaulting on electricity bills worth Rs30.3 million, causing a huge loss to the national exchequer.  The accused owns three industries namely Afandi Steels, Ghazi Steels and Ahmad Steel Re-rolling Industry. He was defaulting on electricity bills for several years. He intentionally refused to clear his dues, despite several notices. NAB has decided to charge all the big fishes who default on electricity bills. A memorandum of understanding has been signed between NAB and Ministry of Water & Power to recover dues of Rs65 billion from the defaulters of Tesco and Pesco. Further enquiry is under way by NAB K-P. At least 100 defaulters are being looked into and arrests of these are on the cards. The accused person is presented before the accountability court.
