Hamza Ali Abbasi has arrived everyone. Practice makes perfect. After numerous social media posts that only received the ire of many, Hamza has finally done something many in his position wouldn’t dare to — question the oppression of Ahmadis.

The actor and social activist questioned the oppression of Ahmadis on national TV. Revealing that he will discuss the Ahmadi community and blasphemy laws at the end of Ramazan in more depth, Hamza addressed the government’s involvement in deciding who is Muslim, and who isn’t.

Hamza Ali Abbasi is hosting a Ramazan transmission and here’s what we’re NOT expecting

The Jawani Phir Nahi Aani star explained that he has spoken in favour of Ahmadis in the past, leading to people believing that he is Ahmadi.

“The community is being suppressed but if you talk about it, people say ‘You’re from that community that’s why you’re saying this,'” revealed Hamza.

He further clarified, “I am not an Ahmadi, I am a Sunni Muslim.”

Political activist Jibran Nasir took to Facebook to applaud Hamza for starting a discussion “on this topic which is violating fundamental rights of hundreds of thousands of Pakistani Ahmadis.”

Sadqay Tumhare actor Adnan Malik also took to Facebook to commend Hamza’s efforts.

“Well done Hamza Ali Abbasi! Tackling very important issues during Ramazan! (Unlike other shows that are rewarding greed and competition),” wrote Adnan.

Anti-Ahmadi campaigners demand Ramazan bazaar’s relocation

This is not the first time the star has addressed the issue. Hamza took to Facebook last year to defend the oppressed community.

Hamza! you are the flickering conscience of Pakistan. I hope it will not extinguish so easily if people like you are challenging the status quo. I am an Ahmadi and proud of you as a Pakistani fellow. However, I also feel that religious extremists do not understand rational arguments in Pakistan despite your articulate portrayal of any issue. Therefore, be careful and be safe too. Recommend

    Hamza,
Only people like you can save Pakistan from chaos and destruction. Murder in the name of Allah should be stopped because it is destroying our country and nation if you kill one sect or say they are non muslims than we are also should be prepare to be called non muslims by others because this thing won’t stop and in the program molvi sahib said ulama will decide who is muslim and who is not than every and each sect has fatwas against all other sects that those are non muslims so no one will remain muslim and this is what is happening in Pakistan which is promoting only hatred and extremism for centuries in muslim countries. So, because of this even muslims are 1.6 billion in numbers we haven’t got any strength or power over others.Recommend

Dear Hamza I have never seen your movies or dramas but hats off to you for raising this issue. It’s better if you invite Ahmedis representation in your programme to listen their viewpoint as well. What happened in 1973 was against the basic principles of islam. How can a state declared a sect non Muslims when they practice everything according to the Islamic faith. Rulers those who targeted Ahmedis in Pakistan because they wanted to please certain Mullahs met their fate for everyone to see. Allah’s justice is superior to anyone’s justice. You need a open and Frank discussion in your programme. May Allah protect you and bless you for raising this issue. Recommend

It is commendable that this topic is being discussed on TV.

But the fact is that this was tried once before in 2010 when Ahmadi’s were attacked in Lahore. Mubashar Luqman when he was with Express also announced that he will bring on Ahmadi’s elder and will have a debate. But unfortunately that topic was placed on a back burner when the show came under fire or pressure.

Let’s see how long Hamza ali can sustain this. If he is able to do it, all hats off for him.Recommend

It is no doubt an important topic to be discussed on every forum but the timing should also be seen.At this point of time our country men are frustated as is evident from the “Maar Kutie”and women mishandling in talk shows. One should also not forget the killing of the Late Governor Punjab on a very minor issue. There is no tolerance since most of the semi- educated young lot of this country is ready to kill anyone for a few pennies. You have to discuss this or such similar problems with tolerable and well educated people involving the well educated and tolerable people from the Ahmedi elders side..Involement of any single person with out spoken voice could face problem in the existing mindset.Recommend

Hamza Ali Abbaai loves painting both secular liberals and molvis with the same brush. He claims they are both equally to blame for what’s wrong with the country. Well here is a study for you. You mess with the liberals and what do you get: a few articles in english dailies bashing you, a few tweets and statuses making fun of you, a few nicknames. You mess with the molvis: And now your life is in serious and very real danger, boy. That’s the difference. But I dont expect you to admit it even now. Recommend

If this show was against vigilante action and harassment of Qadiyanis, that’s the correct position. On the other hand if Mr. Abbasi advocates against the constitutional amendments and law in place to check the deceptive and exploitive Qadiyani cult, then he’s just advancing the interests of our enemies and we expect the government to put a stop to shows like this.Recommend

So finally we have someone from Pakistan who sees and speaks about a problem of prejudice, hatred and persecution of the minorities in Pakistan. My question to you is ” You can’t even accept someone from your own religion who may have different ideology than yours, how will you remove the hatred from the hearts of your fellow country men for followers of other religion like Hinduism and Christianity …. Is your Islam about dialogue and peaceful discussion or riot, rebellion, violence and persecution of those who do not hold your viewpoint.Recommend
