He said 5,185 police officials had been deployed to provide security cover to 1,092 mosques, 109 imambargahs, 30 Ramazan Bazaars and 71 Madni Dasterkhawans in three districts of Bahawalpur division. He was presiding over a meeting. Sadiq urged officials to remain vigilant while performing their duties. He said sensitive areas should be monitored and a peaceful environment should be maintained.
He directed police officers to keep an eye out on the movements of suspects near Ramazan Bazaars, mosques, shopping malls and trade centres. “Pickets should be set up at all entrances and exits. Those visiting mosques should be checked by metal detectors,” the RPO said.
The meeting was told that security of mosques and imambargahs had been planned in three categories.
As many as 72 have been placed in Category A, 127 in Category B and 893 in category C. The RPO also visited the Ramazan Bazaar at Khairpur Tamewali and inspected security arrangements at the market.
