Collective responsibility: Nine arrested under FCR

Houses of suspected militants also destroyed by political administration.

SHABQADAR: The houses of suspected militants were demolished in Mohmand Agency and nine locals were arrested from Lower Mohmand Agency under the Collective Responsibility Clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation. They were taken into custody after Thursday night’s murder of khasadar and Military Engineering Services (MES) officials.

Lower Mohmand Agency political administration officials held a jirga with Qasim Khel tribes. On the occasion, APA Naveed Akbar stressed tribespeople must fulfil their collective responsibility against suspected militants and their facilitators.

The jirga assured the APA of its cooperation with the administration.



The local administration also held a search operation in Bhai Kor and Kado Kor areas and detained nine locals under collective responsibility for the murder of khasadar official Naveed Khan and newly appointed MES employee Jamal Shah. The latter had yet to officially join office. They were murdered by unidentified militants.

The administration demolished the houses of four other suspected militants and their facilitators in Haleemzai.

Meanwhile, Khakh Bazaar in Safi, which was closed down after an attack on security forces last week, was reopened on the request of Senator Hilal Rehman. He led a jirga for this purpose.
