KARACHI: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Sindh on Friday claimed to have recovered 20 kilogrammes (kg) of heroin and 6kg of hashish, during a raid in Karachi's Mari Pur truck adda.

Acting on a tip-off, ANF conducted a raid which also led to the arrest of two suspects. A case has been registered against the suspects, sources said.

"ANF Sindh conducted a raid at Mari Pur Truck Adda, Karachi and recovered 6kg of hashish from Nishan truck registration no. C-2073 and a warehouse situated near 4K bus stop in New Karachi and recovered 20kg of heroin which was in kept in 28 bags of rice," a press release stated.

Last month, customs officials in Karachi recovered over 27kg heroin from a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft during an intelligence-based raid.

Officials conducted the raid at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, and seized nine packets of heroin from the lavatory of a Europe-bound aircraft parked in the hangar.

“It is an unfortunate incident and the airline’s management is extending full cooperation to investigating agencies in addition to conducting its own inquiry,” a PIA spokesperson said in a statement.
