HBO’s epic drama series Game of Thrones will end its sixth edition in a typically grand fashion, with a super-sized finale episode spanning 69 minutes, reported Variety. This will be the longest episode of the popular fantasy drama and will air June 26.

While previous episodes from the ongoing season have clocked in between 50 minutes and 59, the second last instalment is expected to be an hour long. Another prominent difference that fans have noted about the latest season is the fact that in addition to being longer than usual, the episodes begin with unusually meaningful titles.

The episode titles were earlier revealed via HBO.com listings, which included Battle of the Bastards as the name of the ninth episode. The title hints at the highly-anticipated, long-overdue confrontation between Ramsay Bolton and Jon Snow, played by Iwan Rheon and Kit Harrington, respectively. The instalment may finally reveal which ‘Bastard’ assumes control of Winterfell and the North in the end.

The finale, on the other hand, has been titled The Winds of Winter, in recognition of author George R R Martin’s upcoming novel in the fantasy series. Both aforementioned episodes have been directed by Miguel Sapochnik who was also the man behind the previous season’s episodes 7 and 8 titled The Gift, and Hardhome respectively. These episodes were undoubtedly among the most chilling of the series with Snow and the wildings coming face to face with the entire army of White Walkers.

Game of Thrones, an HBO original series, releases new seasons annually that air episode-wise on Sundays at 9pm on the channel. The show is an adaptation of A Song of Fire and Ice by George R R Martin, and since its premiere in 2011, it has become one of the most popular, widely followed television shows in the world.
