LAHORE: When film-maker Sangeeta announced the making of her Noor Bukhari and Wali Hamid Ali Khan-starrer Ishq Positive, she was adamant in the claim that the film will change the game for Pakistani cinema’s dying Lahore chapter.

However, several months on, a lot has changed for the film itself. What can actually be said for Ishq Positive is that the film faced tough luck right from the get-go. Following multiple delays in shooting, casting controversies and rumours of an alleged affair of Noor and Wali, work on the film finally began and Sangeeta addressed a few media conferences to state that all is well. Subsequently, following her dispute with the producers, the Lollywood veteran parted ways from the project and its reins were handed to Noor.

If the rumour mill is anything to go by, the latest from the sets is that Noor herself has lost hope and is supposedly planning on quitting and leaving for abroad. “It is true that there are some issues with me as an actor. I have failed as an actor. Also, some private TV channels are not clearing my dues and it is disheartening now,” she told The Express Tribune.

Despite shedding light on her financial woes, she hoped Ishq Positive will still see the light of the day. “I will take my final decision after completing Ishq Positive. The movie is still in its post-production phase,” she said in response to a question about her leaving Pakistan.

Noor Bukhari is positively set for a comeback

Shooting for the film began over 12 months ago. After Sangeeta, no one was willing to take charge and it wasn’t until Noor decided to helm it, that shooting began once again in the picturesque north of Pakistan.

Talking about Noor’s professional hindrances, a cast member of the film, requesting anonymity, said, “Noor was also a part of Syed Noor’s Bhai Log. That film too has been in crisis for the last five years and I doubt it will release anytime soon.” The actor said Noor has been working for different TV channels to keep the stove burning, but has not been paid her dues. “Yes, money is the primary issue. She is left with no option,” he added.

Apart from Noor and Hamid, the film also stars Faria Bukhari, Durdana Butt, Iftikhar Thakur and Saud Qasmi. While the film’s music has already been launched at an event several months ago, its post-production is taking longer than usual, thanks to the motivation of the new director.

While Ishq Positive was originally scheduled to release on Eidul Fitr, there are chances it will now release on Eidul Azha.
