Robbery case : FIR lodged against eight policemen   

The police had claimed that the weapons were seized during the raid in 2014

HYDERABAD: Eight policemen, including an SSP, were booked in a case on Sunday for their alleged involvement in robbing weapons and cash from an arms shop in Tando Allahyar on June 17, 2014.

The case has been registered in B-Section police station on the court's order. The alleged robbery occurred during a police raid at arms store, Peshawar Armoury. Shop owner Irshad Ali had claimed weapons worth Rs1.6 million including seven rifles, 159 pistols, 235 short guns, 3,838 pistols, 14,400 cartridges and 164 rifle rounds were stolen. Another 10 licensed weapons that were at his shop for repairs were also taken away, said Ali.

However, the police had claimed that the weapons were seized during the raid in 2014. Former SSP Javed Baloch, Crime Investigation Agency, Hyderabad, former in charge Muneer Abbassi and inspector Anwar Lakho, among others have been nominated under sections, 335/20 and 334 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
