LAKKI MARWAT: A district councilor of Lakki Marwat has demanded the administration provide him with protection as he has been receiving threats from a banned outfit for several days.

District councillor Abdul Bacha made this demand while addressing a district council session on Monday.

He said, “Members of the banned outfit called me from an Afghanistan number and asked me to pay Rs4 million in extortion.” He added they also threatened him of dire consequences if their demand was not met.

Abdul Bacha maintained he asked the DPO to provide him security, but the latter declined his request.

Therefore, he was compelled to carry an illegal weapon for his own safety. He urged the authorities concerned to take immediate measures to provide safety to him.

Meanwhile, district nazim supported Abdul Bacha’s claim and directed the DPO to take steps for his safety.

District councillors also demanded deployment of Frontier Constabulary to maintain peace in the district as the region has been badly affected by terrorism.
