Road safety: Citizens asked to follow traffic laws
Non-observance of traffic laws especially lane discipline is a major issue in the city
ISLAMABAD:
It is advised to follow traffic rules and adopt safety measures to avoid road accidents, an official of the Islamabad traffic police said on Sunday. “Non-observance of laws, such as over-speeding, use of mobile phones, while driving, violating traffic signals, under-age driving, changing lanes without using indicators, wrong use of indicators and over-loading, are the main reasons of road accidents,” he said. The Pims Dr Waseem Khawaja said that the ratio of accidents had increased as compared to last year and out of the total casualties treated at the hospital’s emergency department on a daily basis, around 40 per cent were accident cases. He said 10 per cent of them were of serious nature. Non-observance of traffic laws especially lane discipline is a major issue in the city.
