
Addressing a meeting via video link from London, he ordered that the sports secretary and the director general be made officers on special duty. He said development of new playgrounds and digital libraries in parks was of vital importance. Sharif said the authorities concerned had been unable to fulfil their responsibilities in this regard.
‘Conspiracies being hatched against progress’
Addressing another meeting, the chief minister said access to potable water was the right of every citizen and that the provincial government was committed to upholding this right. He stressed the need for completing the Saaf Pani project early. “It is intolerable that the elite drink mineral water but the common man lacks access to safe drinking water,” he said. “The Saaf Pani project will help end this disparity,” he said.
The chief minister said the supply of safe drinking water to villages would be ensured in the next two years. He said provision of clean drinking water was necessary for a healthy society. “Citizens can be protected from diseases through provision of potable water. The Saaf Pani project is being treated as a priority,” Sharif said.
Punjab Saaf Pani Company Chairman Kashif Padiar, the chief secretary and the Planning and Development Board chairman attended the meeting.
