“Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) condemns the killings of innocent people in Iraq and Syria and the US drone strike on Pakistan’s territory,” PUC chairman Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said on Friday.  He was talking to newsmen after Friday prayers at Zialul Qasmi mosque. The PUC chairman urged the Pakistani government to play an effective role in stopping killings in Iraq and Syria. “Thousands of innocent people are being killed in Iraq and Syria but no one is raising their voice against these atrocities,” he said.  He said that Pakistan Ulema Council stood in solidarity with its Muslim brethren in Iraq and Syria.

“The US drone attack in Balochistan has violated the country’s sovereignty and has caused unrest among people of Pakistan,” he said.

He said US had always hatched conspiracies to weaken Pakistan and promote its agenda in the region. The PUC chairman said Hajj was a sacred duty of Muslims.
