
The bazaars aimed at providing essential commodities of daily use to consumers on discounted rates.
At a meeting it was decided to establish five bazaars in Rawal Town, three in Potohar Town, two in cantonment areas and one each in six tehsils of district Rawalpindi.
Five sasta bazaars in Rawal Town will be set up near Nawaz Sharif Park, at Committee Chowk, in Khyaban-e-Sir Syed, Dhoke Hassu and in Raja Bazaar. Three bazaars in Potohar Town will be set up on Adiala Road, Gulzar-e-Qaid, and Chak Beli Khan.
Two bazaars in cantonment areas will be set up at Chungi No 22 near Combined Military Hospital and one at Chorr Harpal. Six other bazaars will be set up in Taxila, Murree, Kotli Sattian, Kallar Syedan, Kahota and Gujar Khan.
The meeting also decided to set up six bazaars in Attock, five each in Jehlum and Chakwal.
Facilities such as parking, toilets, first aid and security will be provided to facilitate the consumers besides allocating sitting areas for senior citizens and women.
District Coordination Officer Talat Mahmood Gondal said that 10 kilograms of wheat flour bag would be available at Rs 290 and sugar would be available Rs10 less than the market rate.
He said that the ghee suppliers have agreed to provide the commodity at lower rate sasta bazaars.
He said that 16 essential daily used items would be available at subsidized rates.
