The engineer, identified as Finceh, and a driver, were wounded on Monday after a low-intensity bomb hit their black-coloured Hiace van (JF-7639) in Gulshan-e-Hadeed area of Steel Town.
Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) registered an FIR No 179/16 on behalf of the state on Tuesday.
This was the third such case registered at CTD, as earlier the cases of killings of seven cops guarding polio teams in Orangi Town and two traffic cops on duty at Ayesha Manzil were registered at CTD. Provisions of the explosives act, anti-terrorism act and attempt to murder were included in the case.

In the FIR, the police have also given a reference to a pamphlet found from the blast site claiming the responsibility of the attack by an ethnic separatist group: Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA).
“We are sure that SRA is behind the attack but we are investigating the case from different angles,” said CTD in-charge Raja Omar Khattab. “The group has the support of RAW. We will have to investigate all the groups who have connections with RAW,” he added.

On the other hand, the law enforcement agencies, including Rangers and police, have sped up their action against suspects allegedly involved in the incident and detained nearly two dozen men including members of separatist groups of Sindh as well as militants of several banned outfits.
The suspects were shifted to undisclosed locations for further questioning. So far the investigators were unable to make any breakthrough over a case.
