Capacity building: 90 TEVTA teachers finish trainings

LAHORE: As many as 90 Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) teachers have completed a 21-day training in skills related to automotive, construction and agriculture sectors, a press release said on Monday.

The training was administered by master trainers from the Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TIKA).

Speaking at the certificate distribution ceremony, TEVTA Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said the training had been arranged to enhance professional capability of TEVTA faculty. He said participation in the training had helped the faculty stay abreast of latest developments in their fields.

HE said services of six master trainers had been hired to train TEVTA faculty in batches of 15 teachers. The civil draftsman course had been offered by Ramazan Baskaya, masonry course by Suleyman Yar, auto electrician course by Ömer Gokkus and auto mechanic course by Vural Kaya at Government College of Technology, Railway Road. The plumbing course was offered by smet Kebapci at Government Technical Training Institute, Mughalpura, and a course on agriculture machinery operations by Ali Irfan Ozyurek at Centre for Agricultural Machinery Industries, Mian Channu.

Sheikh said that master trainers from the TIKA had held trainings for 30 TEVTA teachers in hospitality and tourism sector courses.

He said the country’s bright future depended on promotion of technical education and vocational skills among the youth.

He said the TEVTA was focusing on training its faculty as per international standards. He said this would ensure provision of high quality skills training to youth enrolling in the various courses offered by the TEVTA.

The ceremony held at the Government College of Technology, Railway Road, was also attended by TIKA coordinator in Pakistan Mustafa Giray.
