Stepping it up: Rangers to be deployed for by-elections 

The meeting also decided to declare a public holiday in both the districts on the polling day

KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan has declared all the polling stations in PS-106 and PS-117 sensitive and announced to deploy Rangers inside and outside the stations with 662 trained commandos. This was announced by the provincial election commissioner, Tanveer Zaki, after reviewing the security arrangements for the by-polls that are scheduled to be held on June 2 in Karachi. Representatives of Rangers, police and home department as well as returning officers attended the meeting. The meeting also decided to declare a public holiday in both the districts on the polling day. The seats fell vacant after lawmakers from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Iftikhar Alam and Dr Sagheer Ahmed, resigned to join the Pak Sarzameen Party of former MQM leader Mustafa Kamal.
