KARACHI: Leftover food at wedding halls must be disposed off in a proper manner, said the Sindh Minister for Environment and Alternate Energy, Sheikh Muhammad Afzal.
He directed officials to issue notices to owners of marriage halls, instructing them to throw away excess food in a way that does not pollute the environment. Action will be taken against anyone violating the rule, he added.
The minister also asked that a list of all halls in the city be compiled. Meetings should be held with representative associations so that they can learn about the harm of wasting food, said the minister, adding that technical help and guidance will be provided to the hall owners. According to the new regulation, all marriage halls must be closed by 12 midnight. PPI
