RAWALPINDI:

A large number of lawyers and litigants staged a protest demonstration against what they called bribe-spree on the part of officials at the registrar and DCO offices. The lawyers and their clients alleged that officials at both the offices never entertain files unless they were paid bribes. Lawyers including Mehmood Langrial, Syed Masood Shah and others alleged that clerical staffs at both the offices demand bribes from their clients to proceed their files for hearing. They alleged that high-ups at the offices have failed to rein-in their junior staffers despite repeated complaints against the crooked officials. They threatened to besiege the offices if the alleged officials did not desist from the illegal practice.
