Targets: 260 proclaimed offenders arrested in two months

The CPO had issued the directions to all SHOs and officers in-charge of investigations

FAISALABAD: The district police have arrested 260 proclaimed offenders and wanted criminals against a target of 1,640 ever since a crackdown began two months ago. The crackdown was ordered by the Faisalabad city police officer on March 10. “We had received directives to make sure that we meet the target,” a police officer said. However, 1,380 proclaimed offenders have managed to evade arrest despite the passage of two months. The CPO had issued the directions to all SHOs and officers in-charge of investigations. According to official statistics, of the 260 proclaimed offenders arrested, Madina police had arrested 72 proclaimed offenders, Saddar and Iqbal police had arrested 55 proclaimed offenders each, Jaranwala police had arrested 53 proclaimed offenders and Lyallpur police had arrested 25 proclaimed offenders. According to statistics, there are 348 proclaimed offenders in Jaranwala division, 351 in Iqbal division, 248 in Madina division, 192 in Saddar division and 144 in Lyallpur division who are still at large.
