ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has approached the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to unveil elements behind propaganda campaign aimed at destroying the prospects of a Pakistani Direct-to-Home (DTH) TV services.

According to a press release, an indecent propaganda campaign against PEMRA has been launched for vested interests on social media.

The managers of this smear campaign seem to have little knowledge of the technology and the law of Pakistan, but they are alleging that digitalisation of Cable TV networks and DTH licensing is being done to allow Indian channels in Pakistan.

These vested interests and their cronies have themselves been supporting, sponsoring and selling Indian DTH services in Pakistan for decades and are a tool of channelling Pakistani money to India, added the press release.
