Rawalpindi villages get model makeover

RAWALPINDI:

Several villages in Rawalpindi division have been included in Punjab's Model Village Project aimed at providing high-quality basic facilities in rural areas.

Villages in Kallar Syedan, Gujar Khan, Kahuta, and other areas selected for the project will be equipped with clean drinking water, street lights, paved streets, drainage systems, improved children's parks, and wastewater treatment facilities.

A total of over Rs2.42 billion will be spent on these projects through the Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company.

According to details, the initiative has been launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to ensure the provision of quality infrastructure in rural areas across the province.

Villages included in the project from Rawalpindi division include Changa Bangial (Gujar Khan), Salamabad (Kallar Syedan), Jawa village in Union Council Jawa (Kahuta), Lehtrar Bala and Santh Anwali Kohati (Kotli Sattian), along with Sultani Dhoke, Chak Baqar Shah, Khokhar Zar, Dhoke Daraz Dhakali, Sadwal Langa Bhain, Bilalabad, Waryal, Niragi, Jand Awan, and Basharat village.

Sources said tenders have already been invited for the projects. The total estimated cost of development work is Rs2.427 billion.

Work will be completed in the shortest possible time after contract awards.
