Inflation: SPI rises 17% this week

The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) showed an increase of 16.86 per cent.

ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended January 27, for the combined income group, showed an increase of 16.86 per cent as compared to the corresponding week of last year.

However, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs3,000 registered a decrease of 0.91 per cent over the previous week. The index stood at 297.34 points compared to 300.06 points in the previous week, according to Federal Bureau of Statistics figures.

During the week, average prices of 13 items fell while prices of 17 items rose. Prices of the remaining 23 items remained unchanged. APP
