Workshop: ‘Media to be used to combat polio’ 

Rashid trained participants on how to phrase messages, statements and press notes

PESHAWAR: A two-day orientation workshop was conducted for the district administration and district health officers from high-risk areas of poliovirus of the province. On the occasion, officials were urged to keep close contact with the media to eradicate the crippling virus. The event was organised by Emergency Operations Center Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Haroon Rashid, a senior journalist, said that media plays a key role in shaping the public’ opinion. Rashid trained participants on how to phrase messages, statements and press notes. He also conducted sessions on drafting of press releases. Expanded Programme on Immunization Deputy Director Ayub Rose, EPI assistant directors Dr Akram Shah, Dr Taimur Shah, officials from United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation were also in attendance at the workshop.
