KHANEWAL: DCO Qazi Mohammad Ashfaq Qureshi has ordered that encroachments from nine schools be removed by February 1.

The DCO said that help from revenue and police departments should be sought in order to retrieve the school lands from illegal occupants after district monitoring officer (DMO) Ashfaq Hussain Siyal informed the meeting that efforts to evict illegal occupants from nine schools had been unsuccessful.

The DCO said that education department officials should improve the schools’ monitoring system and that staff members who had been absent on a regular basis would be dismissed from service. Qureshi ordered for strict action to be taken against absent teachers after the DMO said that 361 teachers were found absent from school from October to December last year.

He said that the bathrooms of 153 schools required repair and ordered that dry wood at schools be auctioned off. “The resources generated by this should be utilised for the school’s development,” Siyal said.
