KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), the operator of Kotri block with 100% working interest, has announced that it has discovered gas in its first exploration well Kotri X-1 in Hyderabad district, Sindh.

According to a press release issued by PPL on Friday, Kotri X-1 was drilled on February 10 this year and it reached the final depth of 3,892 metres on April 23. Good quality gas flowed from the well at an average rate of 3.4 million standard cubic feet per day at wellhead pressure of 608 pounds per square inch (psi).

“Preliminary analysis of the test data suggests that it may be a tight gas discovery, but further evaluation is required to determine the nature and commerciality of the discovery based on the geological, geophysical and engineering data collected during drilling and testing of the well,” the exploration company said.
