An additional district and sessions judge sought comments on Friday from the Shahdara SHO on a petition moved by a women seeking a case against her husband for beating her when she refused sex work.
Petitioner Razia Bibi told the court that she had married Muhammad Iqbal two years ago. She said her husband wanted her to start prostitution. She said when she refused, he beat her.
She told the court that she had left him and was living with her parent. “He continues to threaten and harass me,” she said. She said she had approached police but her complaint had not been taken seriously.
She asked the court to direct the SHO to register an FIR against her husband.
