D I KHAN: A man died while two others were injured when a passenger bus rammed into a qingqi in DI Khan on Wednesday.

An official of Dera Town police station told The Express Tribune the deceased has been identified as Muhammad Bakhsh.

“Baksh’s son Ziaur Rahman and his two nephews, Yaseen and Allah Ditta, were injured,” he said. “They were rushed to the hospital. The injured are in stable condition.”

The accused driver managed to flee. An FIR was registered against the bus driver and further investigation was under way.

Separately, a house was damaged when an improvised explosive device went off in Mughal Khel village near Wana Bazaar in South Waziristan Agency. An official of the political administration told The Express Tribune the device was planted near the main gate of the house. “The miscreant who planted the device managed to escape long before the device went off,” he said. “No casualties were reported.”

The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.

A case has been registered. Further investigation is under way to determine who had planted the device.
