FAISALABAD: Thikriwala police have arrested two traffic wardens accused of beating a truck driver to death late on Monday. Muhammad Usman and Zeeshan had scuffled with Muhammad Iqbal near Adda Pensara. A police spokesman said on Tuesday that Iqbal, 40, was driving a cargo truck from Karachi. “The two wardens signalled him to stop near Adda Pensara. However, Iqbal kept on driving. Usman and Zeeshan chased him on their motorcycle and intercepted him. They climbed abroad the truck and started beating up Iqbal, who passed out. He was taken to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead,” the spokesman said. He said other truck drivers gathered at Jhang Road and blocked it for all kinds of traffic. They demanded the wardens’ arrest. Police later took the suspects into custody. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday took notice of the incident and directed the Faisalabad police to submit a report.
